Roots & Routes: Where Cultural Roots Meet Creative Journeys
Roots & Routes is the inaugural group exhibition of the Colorado South Asian Artists Group (C-SAAG) - a newly formed collective of multidisciplinary artists with ancestral ties to South Asia. This first of its kind exhibition with 22 artists hopes to highlight the vibrant creative expressions of South Asian diaspora artists living and working in Colorado.The title Roots & Routes captures both the grounding of ancestral heritage and the evolving journeys of diaspora - how cultural memory travels, adapts, and transforms across borders.
Roots & Routes is curated by Bala Thiagarajan, an artist with deep roots in Colorado’s cultural and arts communities. Her curatorial vision blends cultural scholarship, lived experience, and community practice to center the diverse narratives of South Asian diasporic life.
Presented as part of CitySpark, an initiative to reengage the Englewood community, the show will be held at Englewood CityCenter, 901 Englewood Parkway, Unit 108. This milestone exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Englewood Downtown Development Authority and CAST Colorado.

Colorado South Asian Artists Group
The Colorado South Asian Artists Group (C-SAAG) is a growing collective of visual artists with roots across South Asia: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan and the Maldives. The group was founded by Bala Thiagarajan in 2025 to build community among South Asian creatives in Colorado. Our members include immigrant artists as well as second-generation South Asian Americans—reflecting a rich diversity of diasporic experiences and creative voices.
Through quarterly gatherings, an active WhatsApp network, and our Instagram page (@co_southasianartists), we promote member events, foster collaboration, and create visibility for our work. Roots & Routes is our first public initiative and marks the beginning of long-term engagement with Colorado’s creative community.
