The Colorado South Asian Artists Group (C-SAAG) is a growing collective of visual artists with roots across South Asia: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan and the Maldives. The group was founded by Bala Thiagarajan in 2025 to build community among South Asian creatives in Colorado. Our members include immigrant artists as well as second-generation South Asian Americans—reflecting a rich diversity of diasporic experiences and creative voices.

Through quarterly gatherings, an active WhatsApp network, and our Instagram page (@co_southasianartists), we promote member events, foster collaboration, and create visibility for our work. Roots & Routes is our first public initiative and marks the beginning of long-term engagement with Colorado’s creative community.

Roots & Routes marked the debut exhibition of the Colorado South Asian Artists Group, featuring 22 artists and 31 original works across diverse media. Hailed as a historic milestone for South Asian representation in Colorado’s arts scene, the show celebrated identity, heritage, and creative expression while amplifying the voices of emerging and established South Asian artists.

Center for the Arts Evergreen - January 2026
Following the success of our inaugural exhibition Roots & Routes, C-SAAG is excited to announce its next curated show opening January 2026 at the Center for the Arts in Evergreen, CO. This exhibition continues our mission to spotlight diverse South Asian voices through visual storytelling, community connection, and creative collaboration.

Grounded: An Exhibition of Connection, Reflection, and Belonging

Presented in partnership with the Center for the Arts Evergreen, Grounded brings together Colorado-based South Asian artists to explore what it means to find balance and belonging in an ever-evolving world. Through themes of nature, identity, and shared experience, the exhibition positions art as a way of staying rooted—connecting us to ourselves, to one another, and to the environments we inhabit.
